Little Falls NY, Francisco del Pino, Orenda (2024)
Little Falls NY, Francisco del Pino, Orenda (2024) David Alan Miller, Heinrich Medicus Music Director Britt Hewitt, Vocalist ALBANY SYMPHONY MUSICIANS Liz Silver, Violin I Mitsuko Suzuki, Violin II Tina Chang-Chien, Viola Erica Pickhardt, Cello Luke Stence, Bass Karen Hosmer, Oboe Orenda is written for a little stone-walled area of the old canal to the side of Lock 17 in Little Falls, NY. Inspired by ancient conceptions of place and interconnectedness with nature, I wanted to write a piece that would be suitable to be performed outdoors and that would welcome the sounds of the environment without fighting them—more of a sound tapestry than a “concert” piece. This music behaves a bit like running water: a continuous stream of motion underneath which things change only imperceptibly over time.

The Applicant - Sophia Kunxu Dou | Brittany Hewitt (soprano) and Ethan Brown (cello)
This piece is a chromatography of words. Words are black on paper, but inside the blackness is a cacophony of millions of different colors... The Applicant brings alive an unusual interpretation of my favorite Sylvia Plath’s poem, “The Applicant”. The poem is written in the voice of a woman interviewing her future husband and deals with the complexity and brutality of marriage. I realized this concept by deliberately making this piece into a theatrical scene where the Cellist sits at the Soprano’s ‘job’ interview to see if he could be qualified to be her husband. The events in this piece are symbolic of the mundane ups and downs in the relationship of a married couple, particularly in the scene where the soprano repeats the word ‘talk’ till it becomes a scream that disgusts the cellist. This piece is inspired by experimental theatre and performances of interdisciplinary arts. The music explores the juxtaposition of absurdity and beauty that the poem presents through physical gestures and vocal extended techniques.

The Meadow: Dream Ballet | A Contemporary Dance Film
The Meadow: Dream Ballet is a contemporary dance film exploring the moment when obligation dissolves, and choice becomes visible. Rooted in the tradition of The Dream Ballet, this work follows a central figure as she moves from the internal world of expectation—who she is told to be—into the public act of becoming. Our goal with the next stage of this piece is to set it against the open landscape of New York City. The ballet will unfold as a collective embodiment of desire, tension, flirtation, resistance, and liberation. The Dream Ballet functions as a threshold: the moment where the body tells the truth before the mind catches up. Created as part of The Art of Becoming—the flagship creative platform of Fearless Young Artists Studios—The Meadow asks what it means to choose oneself in full view of the world. This film represents the early cinematic language of a larger stage-and-screen project currently in development. Agreement (Still) | The Art of Becoming (Dance Film)
Agreement (Still) is a movement performance on inner peace, forgiveness, and the quiet agreements we make with ourselves in order to move forward. Although I have performed on Broadway, in films, and on television, this work marks the first time I am performing from a place of personal comfort—both as a dancer and as a human. Becoming a parent profoundly shifted my body, my priorities, and my relationship to the arts and community. Consistently asking me to re-learn how I inhabit movement, time, and self. As I learned to pour creativity and community inward, a new level of artistry emerged—one rooted not in striving, but in listening. Agreement (Still) explores what it means to live in forward motion while learning backwards by agreeing to stillness inside the movements we make each day, and to honor rest as an active choice. Created as part of The Art of Becoming, the flagship creative platform of Fearless Young Artists Studios, this work reflects the power of the pause as a practice. Embodiment of Echoes | An FYA Studios Original Dance Film
Embodiment of Echoes was born from my first introduction to the Golden Ratio Theory and the Fibonacci Sequence—an encounter that offered me a deep sense of exhalation. It reminded me that no part of ourselves is lacking; that human growth, like nature, unfolds in patterns of expansion, contraction, and becoming. When I introduced this concept to the artists of Fearless Young Artists Studios, we explored multiplicity—how learning, letting go, and play can coexist as essential tools for evolution. From this shared inquiry came Embodiment of Echoes, a choreopoem rooted in movement, voice, and collective presence. Composer and vocalist Britt Hewitt created the original score that carries the emotional architecture of the work, allowing poetry and movement to meet in cinematic form. If we lived with freedom of expression while practicing acceptance of our natural growth, could we show up more fully—to love, to community, to ourselves? Our answer emerged as a resounding yes. The Keeper | The Art of Becoming (Song & Dance Film)
The Keeper is one of the most playful and unexpected creations to emerge from this season of work—a reminder of the exhalation we are gifted when we allow ourselves to create in the spirit of play. The piece began through a collaboration with one of Fearless Young Artists Studios’ advertising clients, following an intimate intake conversation rooted in storytelling, place, and intention. Those ideas were brought to composer and vocalist Britt Hewitt, who transformed them into what quickly became the BOP of Summer 2025. Inspired by nature, trees, community, and the simple joy of being present, The Keeper lives at the intersection of song and movement—where play becomes both method and meaning. This work is performed as a solo danced by Laura Aronoff and sung by Britt Hewitt, honoring the collaborative spirit that fuels the creative process. Created as part of The Art of Becoming, the flagship creative platform of Fearless Young Artists Studios, The Keeper celebrates play not as an escape—but as a vital artistic practice. We Are the Creative Ones | The Art of Becoming (Performance Film)
We Are the Creative Ones is a call to creative courage in our actions - Born from a season of reflection, disbelief, and the harsh clarity of the world we’re living in. At the beginning of 2025, I found myself meditating on what it means to be an artist in a time when we are consistently asked to do more with less, and to stay quiet even when the moment demands truth. That reflection became 'And Yet'—a poem rooted in the understanding that the role of an artist is to create. And still, many artists remain fearful of speaking up and out, especially in a landscape where institutions that dare to “poke the beast”—and even those that do not—can be silenced. When creative voices are silenced, we lose the stories that help us make sense of the times we’re living in. We Are the Creative Ones asks: if collaborative artists are not at the center of the conversation to represent this moment, who will be? This question led me to my friend and Singer/songwriter, and composer, Britt Hewitt, whose original song 'One True Love' becomes a call to action for every creative soul willing to listen: Use your voice—or relinquish your power. Be the creative and positive spark. Be the change in your community. Created as part of The Art of Becoming, the flagship creative platform of Fearless Young Artists Studios, this work honors the artist’s responsibility to presence, collaboration, and truth.
